META SUITES – Historical charm meets modern chic.
History
Originally a complex consisting of three humble buildings, Palais Campofranco was converted into a magnificent building during the 14th century by Heinrich Botsch von Zwingenburg. Centuries later, Archduke Heinerich had its façade remodelled as we see it today.
A residence to the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy across multiple generations, it’s currently owned by Georg Count von Kuenburg. Its inner court is home to a majestic Ginko tree, gifted by Empress Sissi to her uncle Heinerich in 1889 – a natural monument in a record-size vase.

The Neoclassical façade, recently brought to renewed splendour, reveals the palace’s prestigious heritage, further witnessed by the historic Ginkgo tree in the inner courtyard – a symbol of peace and resilience that withstood the challenges of time and two world wars.
The restaurant and bar with its panoramic sky terrace serves world-class cuisine and a superb selection of wines, distillates and coffees.

Cathedral & square
Originally a Romanesque church consecrated in 1180, Bolzano Cathedral was reconstructed around 1300 in Gothic style. It features some fine late-Gothic frescoes and a Baroque high altar as well as an extensive collection of medieval relics and manuscripts.
Just outside your suite, Waltherplatz square is the town’s beating heart, entitled to famous Minnesänger Walther von der Vogelweide. A popular meeting point for locals and tourists, it’s also a year-round venue for important events such as the Christmas market and more.
Bolzano arcades
The Laubengasse, a magical place beneath the venerable arches of the Middle Ages, offers an unparalleled shopping experience that harmoniously blends past and present. This magnificent promenade from the 12th century hosts a remarkable variety of upscale boutiques and traditional shops that make every heart beat faster.
Fruit market
The fruit market in the city center of Bolzano is a charming highlight where visitors can find a colorful variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, and vibrant flowers. Traditional and artisanal specialties such as fragrant pastries, aromatic cheese, and the famous South Tyrolean speck invite tasting and enjoyment. A special highlight in autumn is when the tempting scent of roasted chestnuts fills the fruit market.
Promenade
Built at the end of the 19th Century along the gentle slopes of Mt. Guncina, this is more than just a promenade – it’s a historical artwork of botanical opulence.
Today, the Guncina promenade with its sub-Mediterranean vegetation bears witness to the past of town’s quarter Gries as a prestigious spa resort.
